Carbonite Personal Backup provides an excellent real-time backup system for important data. You can just leave it working in the background and forget about backing up data, because the application will do everything for you. It stores backups on the cloud, so you can be prepared for system crashes, hard drive failures, virus attacks and any other catastrophes.

The software is free to try for a limited period of time, but without any significant functionality restrictions. Downloading and installing Carbonite Personal Backup doesn't take long and there is no need to meet any special software or hardware requirements.

Carbonite Personal Backup will guide you through a series of initial settings once it is up and running on your computer. The settings involve choosing what to back up, when and so on. Everything is well explained, so you won't encounter any difficulties along the way.

Essentially, the program creates mirror copies of your folders system in the cloud. You can choose what data to back up by simply right clicking files and folders in Windows Explorer and selecting a Backup option. What's more, the backed up data can be accessed on the same Explorer window, in a virtual drive, where you can find your files in the exact same folders structure.

The program works constantly in the background and you can bring up its user interface through a system tray icon. You don't have to interact with the software's controls too much. Besides searching for specific files in the cloud and restoring all of them or selectively, you can also make a few fine adjustments. For example, the software can be set to back up your data continuously, once a day or to avoid backing up during certain hours.

Carbonite Personal Backup certainly earns its name, because backing up data with this utility is just like encasing it in carbonite.

Pros

You can back up data through a simple context menu option. The software can be set to back up continuously or once a day. It works constantly in the background, without getting in your way.

Cons

There are no serious issues to mention.
